Install the theme (WordPress)

What you need

  • WordPress 6.4 or newer
  • PHP 8.0 or newer (PHP is the language WordPress runs on; your host sets it)
  • For the demo content: your host's standard image tools (called GD), which almost every host has switched on

If you are unsure, go to Tools → Site Health → Info in WordPress and open Server: it shows your PHP version. Your host can confirm the rest.

Install

  1. Sign in to your account and, under Your licences, press

Download. This saves meridian-wordpress-theme.zip to your computer.

  1. In WordPress, go to Appearance → Themes, press Add New Theme (or

Add New), then Upload Theme.

  1. Choose the zip file and press Install Now.
  2. Press Activate.

Do not unzip the file first — WordPress wants the zip exactly as it downloaded.

Enter your licence key

So that updates reach you inside WordPress:

  1. Go to Meridian Photographers → Settings and open the Licence tab.
  2. Paste your key into Licence key and press Save licence.

See your licence key for more.

If the upload fails

Some hosts limit how big an uploaded file can be. Two ways round it:

Ask your host to raise the upload limit (they will know it as upload_max_filesize) to 16 MB. It is an everyday request and takes them a minute.

Or copy the theme in by hand. Unzip the file on your computer. Then, using your host's file manager or an FTP program, upload the meridian folder into your site's wp-content/themes/ folder. Go back to Appearance → Themes in WordPress, and Meridian is there to activate.

Import the demo content so you have something to look at and edit: import the demo. Then see using the blocks and menus.

Did this answer it? If not, ask the assistant — and if it cannot fix it, it passes you to a person.
