Your diary in your own calendar
Your bookings can appear in the calendar app you already use, so you are not opening a website to find out where you are meant to be on Saturday.
Setting it up
- Go to Settings → Settings.
- Scroll to Your diary on your phone.
- On the phone, tablet or computer you want it on, press Add to my calendar.
That button opens your calendar app and asks if you want to subscribe. Say yes. A subscribed calendar keeps itself up to date; a calendar file you download and open once does not, which is the most common way this goes wrong.
On each kind of device
- iPhone or iPad — press Add to my calendar and confirm. It appears in the Calendar app as its own calendar, which you can colour or hide like any other.
- Mac — the same button, opened in Safari. Calendar opens and asks.
- Google Calendar — the button does not work with Google. Instead, copy the address in the box under **Or paste this into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. In Google Calendar on a computer, go to Other calendars → From URL**, paste it and press Add calendar.
- Outlook — copy the same address. In Outlook, choose **Add calendar → Subscribe from web**, and paste it.
What appears
Confirmed bookings. Each one shows:
- the session and the client's name as the title;
- the location, if the booking has one;
- the client's email address and phone number;
- the total, and what is still owing if anything is;
- a link to the client's booking page.
Everything you need at eight on a Saturday morning is in the calendar entry itself, rather than behind a sign-in on a phone with one bar of signal.
Time off you have blocked under Booking → Hours appears too, with your reason as the title, or "Unavailable" if you did not give one. It is marked as free rather than busy, so it does not make you look booked to anyone you share your calendar with.
Enquiries, unpaid bookings and cancelled bookings do not appear. Busy times read from your other calendars do not appear either — they are already in your own calendar.
How quickly it updates
Change a booking in Meridian and your calendar follows — but not instantly. We ask calendar apps to check every hour, and they treat that as a suggestion. Google is often slower. A booking you take this minute may not be on your phone for a while; if you need to see it now, look in Meridian.
A booking that changes is updated in your calendar, not added twice. If you ever see two of everything, you have subscribed twice.
Keep the address private
Anyone with that address can read your diary — names, phone numbers, addresses and totals. There is no password on it, because calendar apps cannot send one. Treat it like a key:
- Do not paste it into a shared document or a group chat.
- Do not add it on a computer you do not control.
If it has gone somewhere it should not, or you have lost a phone it was on:
- Go to Settings → Settings → Your diary on your phone.
- Press Replace this link and confirm.
- The old address stops working straight away. Subscribe again, with the new one,
on every device you still use.
Your client's own calendar
Separately from all this, a client who books gets a calendar attachment with their confirmation email, so the session goes into their calendar the moment they book. There is nothing to set up.
