Proofsheet
Proofsheet is a free app for Mac, Windows and iPhone. It helps you get through a shoot: find the keepers, edit them, and send the finished set to a client gallery. There is no account, no trial and no subscription, and you do not need a Meridian Photographers plan to use it.
Getting it
- On the Meridian Photographers website, click Proofsheet in the menu at
the top.
- Under Download, choose the version for your computer or phone. The
iPhone and iPad version comes from the App Store.
- Open the downloaded file and install it as you would any app.
On Windows, SmartScreen may say the app is from an unknown publisher, because the Windows app is not signed by a recognised publisher. Choose **More info, then Run anyway**. The Mac app is signed and notarised by Apple.
Culling
Open a folder of photographs from a job. Press P to keep a photograph and X to set it aside. Proofsheet can also make the first pass for you: it finds the best frame in each burst and sets aside closed eyes, missed focus and poor exposure. It learns from what you keep and what you reject, but you always make the final call.
Editing
The develop panel covers tone, colour, curves, masks, layers, lens corrections and raw files. Your originals are never changed: edits are kept alongside them.
Presets
Import Lightroom and Camera Raw presets and profiles, one at a time or as a zip file, and save your own.
Meridian Presets are thirty presets in six collections (portrait, wedding, film, black and white, landscape and moody), built and checked in Proofsheet. After buying them:
- Sign in to your account and download the zip file.
- Import the zip into Proofsheet once, without unzipping it. Every preset
appears in the develop panel, grouped by collection.
They change only the settings they need, so your crop, masks and spot removal are left alone. The pack also includes standard .xmp preset files for Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw.
Delivering to a gallery
If you deliver galleries with Meridian Photographers, Proofsheet can create the gallery and send the finished photographs straight to it, with downloads, a cover and sections set up. When asked, type your studio's web address and sign in. See galleries for what your client sees.
Privacy
Culling, editing and exporting all happen on your computer. The desktop app makes no outside connections of its own. The only thing it ever sends is a delivery you start, to the studio address you type.
