Import the demo (WordPress)
The demo fills your site with a complete example studio — portfolio collections, journal posts, testimonials and finished pages — so you can see how everything fits together before putting your own work in.
Want to look before you buy? Open the Try it menu at the top of this site and choose WordPress demo.
Import it
- In WordPress, go to Meridian Photographers → Settings.
- Open the Demo content tab.
- Press Import demo content.
- Wait. It takes a minute or two, mostly fetching and making the photographs.
Leave the tab open until a message says what was imported.
The importer also sets your front page and your journal page, and builds a menu for you.
What it creates
- Nine portfolio collections — weddings, an elopement, maternity, newborn, family, portraits, travel and more — each with several photographs
- Four journal posts
- Four testimonials
- Pages for Home, About, Investment, Journal and Contact
- A menu called Meridian primary, linking Portfolio, About, Investment, Journal and Contact, used for both the main menu and the footer
The photographs
The wedding, engagement, maternity, newborn and family collections use real photographs, downloaded from Pexels (free to use) while the demo imports and then kept on your own site. The rest are generated placeholders. Either way, none of it is your work: swap it all for your own before you launch — in the Media library, or by editing each collection under Portfolio.
Removing it
- Go to Meridian Photographers → Settings → Demo content.
- Press Remove demo content and confirm.
Everything the importer created is marked, so removing it takes out the demo and leaves anything you made yourself alone. It is safe to import, have a look, and remove.
If you press Import again while the demo is installed, the collections, posts, testimonials and photographs are added a second time. Press **Remove demo content** first if you want a clean copy.
