Sections only the couple see

A wedding gallery goes to everybody — guests, parents, the venue, the group chat. A few photographs are not for all of them.

Rather than making a second gallery and remembering which link went where, a gallery can have two passwords: one for guests and one for the couple, with some sections visible only to the second.

Setting it up

  1. Open the gallery from Galleries → Galleries.
  2. Put the photographs in a section of their own — Just the two of you,

The morning, whatever it is. (In the Sections panel, add the section; then in the Photos panel, tick the photographs, choose the section and press Move.)

  1. In the Sections panel, tick the box beside that section. Its label

changes from Everyone to The couple only.

  1. In the Settings panel, type a password under The couple's password

and press Save.

  1. Send that password to the couple.

The couple's password needs at least four characters. Guests use the gallery's own Password, or none at all if you have not set one. The couple can type their password on the gallery's password page too, so they only ever need theirs.

To stop using it, tick Remove it under The couple's password and press Save.

What a guest sees

Everything except the marked sections. They are not blurred or greyed out — they are simply not there:

  • the sections do not appear on the page;
  • their photographs do not turn up when a guest pages through photographs one by one, or in the slideshow;
  • a film placed in one of those sections is not shown;
  • a link to one of those photographs, copied and sent to somebody, does not open for anyone without the couple's password;
  • Download all never includes them, whatever the download settings say.

What the gallery tells guests

A box says that some sections are for the couple only and that their password opens them, with a place to type it.

It does not say what is behind it, how many photographs there are, or what the sections are called. That is deliberate: saying nothing would leave the couple fielding questions about a gallery that seems to be missing something, and saying more invites guessing.

Changing a password

Change either password and everybody using it is asked again on their next visit. Otherwise each device is remembered for 30 days.

What this is not for

Two passwords are for one audience inside one wedding. If you need two genuinely different sets of photographs going to two different people, make two galleries — or, for a venue or a planner who wants a handful of frames, use sharing a few photographs, which needs no password at all.

Did this answer it? If not, ask the assistant — and if it cannot fix it, it passes you to a person.
