How a gallery looks
Every gallery has its own look. You change it on the gallery itself, and a preview beside the controls shows the real page your client will see.
Change the look
- Open Galleries → Galleries and click the gallery.
- In the Settings panel, click How it looks to open it.
- Change the controls on the left. The preview on the right redraws as you go.
- Use the Computer and Phone buttons above the preview to check both.
Most clients open their gallery on a phone, so it is worth a look.
- Press Save. Nothing is kept until you do.
What you can change
- Cover — The photograph, full screen, **Photograph beside the title, A narrow band across the top, or No cover — straight to the photographs**.
- Point at what matters on the cover — click the part of the cover that must never be cropped away, usually a face. Phones and wide screens crop the cover differently, and this is the spot they both keep in view. It appears once the gallery has a cover photograph.
- A line on the cover — a short sentence of your own shown with the title.
- Colours — Light, Dark or Warm paper.
- Lettering — Serif, Sans, or serif headings with sans text.
- The photographs — natural heights packed together, every photograph the same size, one larger row at a time, or one at a time at full width.
- Space between them — a slider from no space to generous.
- Show the client a line explaining how to favourite and download — untick it for a gallery that does not need the explanation.
Choose the cover photograph
- Open the gallery and find the photograph in the Photos panel.
- Click the small star in its top-left corner (Make this the cover).
The star of the current cover is highlighted. Then use **Point at what matters on the cover under How it looks** if the crop needs adjusting.
The cover is also the first photograph in the slideshow.
Start the next gallery the same way
Useful when you shoot the same kind of session again and again.
- Open a gallery that is set up the way you like.
- Scroll to Start another like this near the foot of the page.
- Type a name under Name the new gallery and press Start it.
The new gallery is empty but carries the look, downloads, watermark, proofing, slideshow and sections. It does not copy the photographs, the client, the dates, the line on the cover, the link or the passwords.
Brand and language
- Brand: shown once you have set up a brand kit. The gallery wears that brand's name or logo, colour and contact line. See brand kits.
- Language: the language of the client's gallery page: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian or Portuguese. The buttons, notes, basket and dates change; your title, cover line and section names stay as you wrote them. The client can switch language at the foot of the page, and their choice is remembered on their device. Emails and the checkout are in English.
